This is a good place to start, they have a directory of most sheffield charities that are looking for volunteers. They can point you in the right direction for what you want.

If you want to learn differnt skills that would be useful for any future employment that you can put on your CV then why not volunteer at your local advice service. They are always wanting new people. You don't have to be brain of britain but do have to have a willingness to learn, be patient and have a good listening ear. Castle Advice Service Duke Street are very good.

Call 0114 2754578 for more information, good luck!

Hi,

A good start is to go to the conversation club. It's in a church at the bottom of Chapel walk called the Central United Reformed Church, at 60 Norfolk Street, on Fridays, 1-4pm..

It's mainly for refugee's and Asylum Seekers, and it's just a place for them to come and meet people. It helps their communication skills, and gives them a change to socialise. I've only been a couple of times, as my work get's in the way, but I like it, and found it very interesting.

Really nice people there, and plenty of other volunteers who'll be happy to show you the ropes.

I work for HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas) and we run a venue during the day over the Christmas period from Christmas Eve until New Year's Day. We offer food, clothing and a safe place for our vunerable people in Sheffield and it is the only place open over this difficult period. We are always looking for volunteers and would love to hear from you. Please ring 0114 2788666 and leave a message and details will be sent to you.
