MelonAngel   10 #1 Posted June 14, 2005 Anyone suggest lovely and local ( ie within an hour or so's drive ) camping venues? Not for familys mind- for crazy and likely loud shud-know-bettas...  ( David - Shingalaa * Are you there? Never said Tarah...get in touch monkey features!!)  Also more importantly, on way home from our last jaunt, we began devising a road trip involving destinations having rude(ish) or ridiculous names - just for photographic purposes and giggling that hurts u know... Any suggestions most welcome ( We shall be starting at Coch Castle via Scrub Hill !!!)...
 Share this content via...
Norbert   145 #2 Posted June 15, 2005 Shatton Moor  Penistone  Shafton Two Gates  Jughole wood  Upperthong  Fartown  Dirty Gutter  Dick Slack  Butty Moss  These stupidly named nearby places can be found on: http://places.jump-around.com/closest/  Also there is a camping field for nutters near Eyam Moor: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=53.3149&lon=-1.6529&scale=25000&icon=x  Ask at the farm just after the top of the steep hill shown on the map just above Leam. It's cheap and you take a spade in the woods. You will spot the field it's got several old caravans on it too.
 Share this content via...
viking   10 #3 Posted June 16, 2005 There is a campsite (Farmers field with toilets) at Hope, near castleton, (I know, where there's Hope There's Castleton)  It is across from the "Old Hall" pub and past the cement works.  I have only been once, full of the younger end party-ing all night. It used to be a really nice family place, but the nutters kind of spoiled it!
 Share this content via...

katiekat   10 #9 Posted June 19, 2005 If you drive out on the A57, you'll find lots of places that you can camp and wail your heads off - although none of the secluded places are official camp sites. The reservoirs are nice spots.
 Share this content via...

Ghosthunter   10 #12 Posted June 19, 2005 Springwood at Thorpe Salvin near Worksop.  Myself and two mates camped out there about a month ago and loved it.  The woods are dense and so dark. We had a few disposable bbq and some of those long bbq candles from Wilks (49p each or 5 for two quid)....and they last for hours.  A little bit of Pink Floyd and vodka.......a really chilled out night.
