algy 11 #13 Posted July 14, 2009 I cannot verify this, so if any one has better info than me please say... David Blunkett apparently has a second residence in Chatsworth. ( to help him with his work attending Parliament i.e. London.) Chatsworth is a rather swish pad not too far from London, but considerably closer to Sheffield. If this is true, which I cannot verify as yet, then why should it be allowed? He rents a cottage in one of the villages on the Chatsworth estate. I believe he also has what he likes to describe as 'my little house in my constituency', and presumably a home in London, but which he claims for is anybody's guess, as MP's were allowed to blank out all addresses from their published claims. Greybeard 10 #14 Posted July 14, 2009 I'd like to bet that when the next general election comes round the politicians are hoping that all the thoroughly dis-honourable tactics they've been using will of been forgotten about. It's up to us to make sure their wicked ways are remembered. Traitors to socialism like Blunkett, Betts and Caborn should be hanged from the political yardarm. espadrille 10 #16 Posted July 14, 2009 Unbelievable that he could have got away with this. And he is paid by the taxpayer. For once, words fail me.I think the OP says it all.
 Share this content via...

You mean you dont like the sound of the title and as mod you have the power to change it? Have you ever considered a job as an mp? hsb98c 18 #18 Posted July 14, 2009 You mean you dont like the sound of the title and as mod you have the power to change it? Have you ever considered a job as an mp? I think the mod just doesn't want to get sued and the forum forced to close under mounting legal costs. We have free speech, but that does not mean we get to say or do what ever we want and ignore the facts. Yes he is paid by the taxman, but so are a lot of people and what they do once paid is their own lives. If, however, illegal expenses were used then there is a case for questions and legal proceedings, but we can't just say because he gets paid from the public purse we have any say over what he spends it on. hsb98c 18 #19 Posted July 14, 2009 So busy flipping homes, little wonder he needs so many research assistants. x I understand the anger about the researches, but he had to change homes as he started living in London more and as per the rules... He then switched it back once he finished being a whip (no jokes please...). What's the story? Man gets new role, changes his lifestyle, man finishes role and changes it back? Wow.... Stop the press...
 Share this content via...
Vague_Boy 10 #20 Posted July 14, 2009 He still thinks he's done nothing wrong! Seems to be a common trait for MP's in this expenses scandal. Agreed, why cant they be housed in a block of council flats. Its good enough for the majority of the electorate so it should be good enough for them. Don't be silly. If they lived in government provided accommodation they wouldn't be able to build a property empire on expenses/allowances. Then they'd be even "poorer" than they are now. I think the mod just doesn't want to get sued and the forum forced to close under mounting legal costs. The mods need to take the legal aspects into account when making decisions. This is a private forum and as such, they have the final say.
 Share this content via...

Or, is it that all animals are equal but so........ 1 bedroom flats in westminster and pimlico rent for at least £800 a month. So even if the government put them all up that's still a huge cost. I suppose it would stop them profiting from the arrangement though, which is what makes people really mad.
 Share this content via...
forumer 10 #23 Posted July 14, 2009 You mean you dont like the sound of the title and as mod you have the power to change it? Have you ever considered a job as an mp? Exactly. Plus he's a Labour Party member and a failed Labour Party candidate for the local elections. Labour sticking together.
 Share this content via...
