Leeds to get £100 million for flood defences!

Recommended Posts

It's just been on Look Leeds that Leeds is to get £100 million government money for flood defences! I don't remember Leeds getting flooded. How much is Sheffield getting?

Only if someone pays for it. Hilary Benn was asked how much the govt. would put in and he completely dodged the question. That went straight over Paul Hudson's head :hihi:

the population of leeds is around 715,000 people that equates to about £140 a head, presumably it would take at least 5 years to complete the necessary work they could add £30 a year to the council tax to pay for it.

wow, when was council tax changed to a per-head tax without anyone being told ?
