From what i understand, the company do not give out anyones number, they simply send the person your trying to reach a text message asking you to call the person requesting your number...

I just went to the website to remove my number only to find that no-one actually gets your mobile number at all. 118 texts you to say that someone wants to get in touch and it's up to you to call them. Can't see what all the panic is about to be honest.

My mobile number is private, so the only people who have it would only use it to contact me in an emergency. Anybody else can use the landline, which is in the phone book.

 

I have chosen to opt out of this service. Two of my family members are very unwell and about to undergo serious operations. I am already sufficiently irritated by pointless marketing texts from my network provider, as all my panic responses kick in every time the mobile goes off.

Off the top of my head, I can give you four scenarios:-

 

1) Fleeing a violent/abusive ex-partner?

 

2) Fleeing a violent/abusive family situation? (for example, you are the child/ step-child of an abuser, and need to flee for your self-preservation)

 

3) You are the parent of a child that is being abused, and you, and your child are fleeing?

 

4) you have a stalker?

lol think alot of us can relate to this, my dad bless him used to do the same when i asked him what do i do when i need to contact you, he just grumbled its a waste of electicity lol
