If Immigration is bad, then why is Emigration good?

Recommended Posts

Without wishing to criticise the posters of Sheffield Forum I really do struggle trying to understand their viewpoint on this issue.

We have so many negative threads and posts about the consequences of Immigration, yet when someone says they are moving to another country we all seem to wish them well and mostly support what they are doing.

So surely if we believe that Immigrants are taking all our jobs, houses, Benefits, Heath Services, then we should also be telling those moving abroad that they are doing exactly the same to the Indigenous population of their new country.

Can anyone explain why we are like this, is it that we don’t think anyone should move here but that we should be free to move abroad, or is there another reason for this strange behaviour.

Personally I welcome the opportunity to live and work abroad, I'm just trying to understand the logic of those that don't.

The folk generally moving abroad are or have to have work lined up,proof of income for 2 years ete.People coming into the uk generally only need a passport and little else. The difference is that one lot are basiclly paying there way and not bleeding the state dry.?

I can't work that out, I thought you couldn't claim Benefits until after you'd been here 12 months.

It seems we have to toe the line in other countries whereas we regularly import criminals and NHS tourists.

There are many loop holes which give people the right to claim benefit. Its worth googling and a bit long winded.Il give you an example over the state of this country at the moment. If you come into the uk and have a driving licence then you get 6 months free road tax.App this is to help you find your feet.?Another one is non speaking english folk viewing council property are taken by cab to view the house and then returned. The reason is that they cant catch a bus.Spoke to a mate who works for express and the whole thing is paid for by social services ete.You woudnt find that in many other countrys.?

One argument could be the fact that when we move abroad it's a long well thought out plan...1,Save lots of money.2,Sell your home and hope for even more money.3,Have a job to go to and a home. These are the basic foundations one needs,so as not to be a burden on the country you choose to emigrate to.

Now compare that to the hoards of scruffy, skint, diseased ridden criminals who will be a massive burden on our services. Then you should see why we kick up a fuss.

Before anyone jumps down my throat,i know there's thousands who come to live here every year who "do plan"well as we do, and are self-sufficient.

But surely as a high percentage of those moving to Spain are elderly, they will be a bigger drain on their Health Service than young people coming here to work.

So are you arguing that people who are rich/well off, or have a job to come to should be allowed in.

I dont know how Spain's health service works but I have friends in Thailand who have to have a reserve in their bank accounts to cover any sudden medical expenses, if this is touched they are out.

Good point though and one I have not really thought of.
