Agent Orange
Is anyone going to England this summer and intending to vist a beach? Have you been on a Donkey ride in England before? What are your views on this? Do you think donkey riding is cruel or part of English culture?

Agent Orange
Donkeys are nice placid creatures, normally. However, I don't think it's fair to take advantage of that by riding them across the hoards of commoners that litter the beaches of England. Smack Jack
Its no more cruel than camel jockeying, they are after all beasts of burden. The cruel part is the sucker who pays two quid for a forty metre walk sat on its back that lasts for about a minute, as I recently saw at Chapel St Leonards. A better question may be about the brown sea, is it just pure, raw sewage and filth or what?

Agent Orange
Maybe we should have a donkey derby here on the forum. Not literally here on the forum, but on Skeggy beach
foxforcefive
The thing that strikes me about donkey rider's is, it's always the fat kids that get the greatest pleasure out of it, as though somehow they relish the fact they're putting a massive strain on the donkey, you watch next time you go to the seaside, the more strained the donkey looks, the happier the kid riding it appears. I never took pleasure at riding donkeys. Saying that, I never was a fatty as a kid. I will note your observation and next time I am at the beach, I will monitor donkey with oversized child onboard. P.POWER
I think this is a quite interesting topic. I dont agree with the way some donkeys are tret by their owners (ie making them walk up and down a beach all day) I think in the uk there is a law of some sort stating that it is illeagal for people over 8st to ride donkeys? Sounds like a silly law i know but its what i heard! However i think that if it was done correctly i wouldnt have a problem with it at all. It would be interesting to see what the O.P veiws on horse riding are too .
