Br8inend   10 #685 Posted July 15, 2009 I bet for every case of someone dying that the media report on they don't report on the 1000's of people who have had a mild dose and recovered.  The only people I know who has recovered is him out of harry potter. Seen as 10000 has had it confirmed I don't see the people numbers who have recovered . May be if we can have figures of survivors we may be able to sleep a little better. Mathom   10 #686 Posted July 15, 2009 If we get the vaccine distributed by December it will in place around the same time as the next wave. We may have a doubling in late spring by which time the virus could have mutated to become more deadly. All those who have already had the virus may be immune to the second wave.  You wouldn't necessarily be immune. Theoretically, you could catch the flu as many times as the virus mutates. That's why this thing about 'catching it now so I don't get it later' won't actually work  I'm just getting peed off with the people who are dragging themselves to work while they're still clearly ill. I don't actually care if they can manage a few hours' work once they've dosed up on pills. Maybe this is the answer to the question that's been puzzling the virus specialists - why it's spreading so fast in the UK? Namely selfish gits who think they're too important to take a few days off work and would rather sweat on everyone. It doesn't help that they're the same sorts of scruffs who blow their noses on their sleeves.
 Share this content via...

I've only ever had proper flu once, about 5 years ago, and if it really is flu, you're not going anywhere. You feel so bad, you can't even get out of bed, much less get to work. We had a doctor who said he has a test. He puts a £20 note in the garden. If you can get it, you've only got a bad cold!!
 Share this content via...

Loads more will have had it, either thinking its normal flu, or just getting through it, without even seeing a doctor. This is no more dangerous that normal seasonal flu, possibly less so. dafydd   10 #693 Posted July 15, 2009 Take the number of dead away from that and you have your survivors.  Wonderfully simple, logical, common sense, irrefutable, so therefore there will be one or two will argue, or better yet, refute! Thanks for the blast of common sense!
 Share this content via...

I lost 1 stone in weight, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, it was an effort just to get up out of bed and go to the loo. I felt like death, every muscle and bone aching for 7 long days. The onset was very rapid, one minute I was feeling fine, within 45 mins I was feeling like I was at deaths door - that's the difference between a cold and flu.  If you really have flu as opposed to a bad cold you wouldn't be able to drive into work let alone do anything once you got there.
