Draggletail
hiya draggletail , ive downloaded it ok , but when i import an avi file , the screen is white ? its trying to play because of the timeline on the bottom , but just a white screen?? I just tested my version, did file/open file and it loaded the .avi OK, can see it in the screen ..... Could it be you need to install a codec pack? (I don't know if the software installs it's own codecs or relies on the ones already on your system ... probably the latter....) Also for some AVI files you need the Xvid codec, Download and install the Divx player (This will have the Xvid codec inlcluded) http://www.divx.com/en/products/software/windows/divx Might be worth a try, although there are people on here much more knowledgeable than me
VideoPro
MPEG Streamclip for Windows requires that you install Quicktime or QuickTime Alternative. Confirming that the white screen means you don't have the required codec for the video that you are trying to play.
tallanddopey
google and download the k-lite codec pack that should sort out any codec problems.

HarryBustard
Use iMovie on your MacBook Pro - not free, I know, but I'd be surprised if it didn't come pre-installed as part of iLife.
