AltyOwl Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 You can't really say that till the end of the transfer window. Also our wage bill is significantly higher than most in the league. We also reported as bidding £1.5 million for Evans, who overall is an untested player. I wouldn't say he's untested. He was good in his loan spell at Norwich a few years back. He's done a 'job' at City and plays international football. I think he'd be a good signing.
AltyOwl Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 For all the money Sheffield United are supposed to have got, they don't really show it in the transfer market. They can't really splash out with the liabilities they have. Once an decent income comes through from their business ventures, such as the Hotel, then maybe United will be able to. They don't want to do a Wednesday and waste it. Has McCabe not lost millions through his property business also? I've read on another forum that he wanted out, had United got promoted.

What liabilities do we have? im curious? mccabe actually sold his massive stake in his property business for 362million just before the property crash which helps but i belive he has taken a hit on the aussie stock exchange as he is a major shareholder in valad but he doesn't own it outright. Its always been in mccabes business plan to take the club back into private ownership and then look to sell if thats what you mean that he wanted out but thats a medium/long term plan that will have been put back a few years by this recession for sure.
The Manager Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Other clubs interested as well - i think he will be off
scottf Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Blackwell was on the radio last night saying no clubs have made and official offer for him yet so it might all be paper/SSN talk?
NERVY-OWL Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 poor offer anyway. utd should hold out for 5-6 million up front plus a few million in extras, until then i wouldnt bother. the player isnt wanting a move and has a long contract so no rush
Jazzybmzoo Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Blackwell was on the radio last night saying no clubs have made and official offer for him yet so it might all be paper/SSN talk? This is the same man who said Beattie had flu.
scottf Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This is the same man who said Beattie had flu. he did - honest!!! :hihi::hihi: I listen carefully and blackwell did only say that he HIMSELF had recieved no calls about him- although you can bet your obttom dollar that mccabe or someone else in the club might have.
MR BENN Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 theres no smoke without fire- i bet the blades are holding out to see if this triggers any more bids by other clubs
Dimitri 11 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I believe as soon as we go up, the extra £2 million a year stops. We are guaranteed £15 million (well £17 million now that we stayed down last season) I didn't know that but £17 mil is better than nothing.
