Why should everyone else fit around your chosen lifestyle? You chose to have children, didn't you - no-one forced you?

ive never asked for anyone to fit around me and i certainly didnt say i did in my post, i work the hours the company i work for tell me to and i do not argue or debate it with them i do overtime also when needed. when i need to do things for my children that will be during my working day then i take a holiday day that i am entiteld to do as is everyone else i work with regardless of wether they have children or not. people use their holiday days for dentist/doctors appointments, actual holidays, and all sorts of other things.

i fail too see why you thought i say saying i expect everyone else to fit around my life?

your assuming all working mums get flexible working hours

ive certainly never had any flexable hours in any of my jobs i have worked when they have told me to work and any time off ive needed for my children like doctors, illness, plays, parents evenings etc etc i have used my holidays allowance.

You are a prat, and a prat of the highest order.

Katy has worked, and worked damn hard to keep herself and her family. (I know Katy, and know that she is a hard worker)

I'm sure you would have been the first to have been Kvetching, if she'd been the "serial-single-mum-on-the-dole" type, who'd never done a hands turn in her life, and never intended to do so.

I've no objection to giving more women senior positions but why is it female managers always seem to be overweight, ugly and with an attitude problem?

It seems that in business pretty women are discriminated against more by other women than by men.

And I bet that every woman who you asked out and got turned down by must have been a lesbian, too?

Sorry, your post seemed to be complaining that you didn't get flexible hours and I took it that you felt that being a mum you deserved to. No offence intended.

Do you always resort to insults when someone disagrees with you and you are incapable of a mature response? It's perfectly valid to say that in business senior women see pretty women as a threat. Not that you'll ever be in that position.

Will you respond to that or just call me a "prat" again. I can't wait to find out.

..maybe its because the majority aren't which is why you notice the ones who are?

It's certainly not been my experience of female managers or at least no more than those qualities are apparent in male managers.

While ever we are giving one person a flexible working week, we are likely to be denying another people the chance to do a full time week (someone who doesn't demand flexible working, but will do a job)

The full time jobs/full time salarys, could go to the men who could then support their familys (which include women) and everyone is happy.

Theres plenty of single mums now. And many women work full time anyway, sticking their kids in nurserys from 3 months old.

It wouldnt work

Kids don’t look after themselves!

Someone has to take care of them – and how many families nowadays can really survive on one wage? Flexible working benefits men, women and children.

Also, the argument about "nobody forced yu to have kids" isn't a good one. If nobody had kids, we'd all be screwed.

For a start, they'll be paying for the debts of this generation.

How come there never seem to be initiatives to encourage white men into job roles where they are under represented? If women or people from an ethnic background can bring massive benefits to white male dominated sectors can't white men do likewise for areas generally populated by other demographics? Perhaps the reason that our children are growing up miserable according to European reports is because there aren't enough men in early school situations.

Should government now be looking at discriminating in favour of white men in certain sectors? perhaps white male nurses and primary school teachers should be offered a bigger training bursary or working conditions that suit the lifestyle they want to lead more.

If you were really going to level the playing field would you do things like this? should you? I see the question of equality as one of morality, if we find ourself discriminating in favour of one or the other don't we lose that moral argument however good the intentions are?
