thanks everyone for the comments :) does whitby and bridlington and scarborough have markets? and shops. sorry for questions , ive never gone anywere but skeggy ! and what caravan sites can people recommened?

Skirlington Market is near Hornsea, just a bit south of Brid. It's quite a big market, worth a visit if that's your thing.

Bridlington is a small seaside town, plenty of tat and chavs but OK for a day visit. And some pleasant areas away from the main promenade too. The areas around it are worthy of exploration.

And it's nowt like Skeggy

brid --skeggy --cleethorps --are crap---go to mablethorpe --theres more there

i wondered when someone would mention mablethorpe. we went there from 1969 to 1984. firstly camping then a caravan. every weekend in the summer, spring week and the main holiday weeks in july and august. we even spent christmas and new year there a few times.we had some good times and made some good freinds. always plenty to do, poeple down to earth and no hills!! and some wonderfull pubs that sold batemans. god that batemans xxxb, a fine drop of beer. i went back there earlier this year and was pleased to see it hadnt changed much.

Brid was great when I was a kid 20 years ago, when i went there 5 years a go it was turning into a hole so it can't bode well for what it's like now.

Whitby is great as is Robin Hood's Bay. Scarborough isn't bad either :)

Excellent! If thats what you like Megathread. Why not.

I'm a member of the National Trust and love the Peak district which we visit quite often. But I love the coast too and try to get there as often as possible. I enjoy walking along the beach at Bridlington and along the cliff top to Sewerby, or if I feel really energetic, Flamborough.

I like watching all the goings on in the harbour and 'people watching' on the promenade near the fair.

National trust, NATIONAL TRUST !!!.

Don't get me started with them fookers, i hate them, bloody jobsworths, low down sneaky underhand sods, in fact lets not go there, it's a long story. :|

Well with over 3 million members it can't be that bad!

Personally I have had some brilliant days out at National Trust properties and cant criticise them in any way whatsoever.

Ive just come back from skeggy , and i have to say its nowt like it used to be !

so for next hoilday i was thinking bridlington? Ive never been to bridlington. could somebody tell me whats its like please? thanks

It's OK but used to be a lovely little fishing/seaside town on a river mouth, a lot like Scarborough or Whitby. It's a lot more 'urbanised' now and has lost a lot of the charm it had in the 70s.
