I went to Whitby with the wife and young daughter the weekend before last and we really

enjoyed it although we were blessed with some lovely weather.I've always liked Whitby

because of it's charactor, the narrow streets on each side of the Esk and the Abbey, its a lovely place and if you do go don't forget to visit the magpie cafe for the finest fish and chips in the world.

I'll put some photos up in a bit.

From Sheffield to Bridlington it takes approx an hour an half to 2 hours depending on traffic. Its roughly another twenty minutes/half hour to Scarborough.

The route I take from Sheffield to Bridlington is M18 onto M62 then off at Howden onto A614 (I still use this route even when I drive from IOW).

I've just got back from scarborough (well cayton bay). Whitby is by far the nicest of the places to visit (well the bigger ones). Brid is ok, but not great, if you've gone off skeggy then I don't think you'd enjoy brid!

Scarborough is good for a change, the market vaults are great, full of little random shops and a lovely cheap cafe.

Filey looked small, but nice, we didn't stop long there though sadly.

If you were to choose to spend time in a caravan in brid for any other reason than sleep you would be at serious risk of being sectioned, use it as a base by all means but never ever ever make the place the main focus of any break lasting longer than 40 minutes.

Bridlington is our favourite seaside place.

Two brilliant beaches. An interesting harbour. Lovely walks along the coast path. Lot's of things for the kids to do.

A lovely model village. A fun fair. Boat trips. Always something going on.

Surrounded by lots of other nice places to visit.

Everything you could wish for.

Can't wait for our next holiday there.
