Security work in Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Hi all

First time poster here :)

I am moving up to Sheffield with husband and wanted to ask you questions regarding security work in the city as my husband has an SIA licence (general + door supervisor). What security companies are there in Sheffield that he could potentially apply for work with?

I saw in another security officer thread that someone mentioned G4S, Securitas and Chubb; are there any other local ones that you would recommend? Also, it would be good to hear if there are any to avoid. Also, do these companies hire door supervisors or would there be separate agencies for that?

Many thanks

Viv

Hi Viv,

I work for Constant Security based in Mexborough but operating throughout South Yorks. I have no knowledge of other security firms but can recommend this one. They pay accurately and on time, are quick to answer queries and generally a good firm to work for.

I dont think they use Door Supervisors unless its on Event work.

Good Luck

Many thanks for the answers :)

Just a quick question, do you have a rough idea of how the security sector in Sheffield is doing at the moment? We are trying to decide on the move but as husband has a stable security job where we are now he is a bit reluctant to move... can you help me convince him :D

Well i work for securitas we seem to be getting contract all the time although i know chubb are not too clever inthis area having justclosed there office in sheffield.

What company dose he work for and could he internally transfer with them?

Iam sure others will give you telephone numbers of security firms your husband can ring around.

Call Securitas 01924 375 600 or try g4s there not bad either

Cheers Ozzy

I think you might get differing answers on stability, the fact is there is little "new" work" , it seems that contracts change between companies and if you are working for one that is gaining new contracts such as Ozzies firm is then all appears OK as I understand it with us we are also getting new contracts, we seem to be replacing other companies though.

Many thanks for the answers :)

To whom it may concern,

I have recently moved to Sheffield from Pakistan.

I have come to the UK on a student visa and therefore am allowed to work up to 20 hours per week. I am looking for any type of work .

In the past I have worked as a part time lecturer and therefore know how to work to a very high professional standard. I am very hard working and have great communication skills and find it easy to get along with most people.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Asim Khan.
