Sheffield star using photo

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Juat needing some advice. I sent a couple of photos in for the letters page of the Sheffield Star (you know where they print one and say where it is and who the photographer is). Well they didn't use it for this but I spotted it inn article of theirs. They haven't even acknowledged me as the photographer and I think it is out of order. I'm planning to write to the editor complaining - anyone know the legalities of this and got any advice????

Thanks Laddo

Think you should have a read of the terms and conditions here

http://ww1.investorrelations.co.uk/jpplc/termsofaccess/

this is from the section 'Submitting Content'

"1. Ownership. If you submit content to the Publisher (including without limitation any text, photograph, graphics, video or audio) , you grant the Publisher a licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, create derivative works from, distribute and display in public that content in any form and media on or in connection with the Site, at no cost to us and for as long as we require and you warrant that you own or have rights to the intellectual property in such content and have the right to grant this licence."

Would be nice of them to put your name next to the pic though

I hadn't read the stuff on the website but figured they would legally be able to use my photo because I sent it to them. I just think it's a bit cheeky and rude not to acknowledge the photographer!

No maybe about it. They used to get most of their stories off here. It now seems we are doing their phtography work as well.

The star should just be one sheet with the URL of the forum on it. It would be just as useful.
