C3PO
Personally I think this is the wrong place for this wheel. http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/Big-wheel-ready-to-roll.5310129.jp Slap bang in the conservation area and next to a Grade I Listed building, There must be more suitable places to have a wheel of this size. This should be supported but in a different location. I know its only temporary but common sense must avail surely. Where else are they gonna slap all the markets and god knows what on Fargate when this goes up. Space is surely a premium
forumer
Don't agree, think this is the perfect place. Right slap bang in the middle of town which helps footfall across the city centre. In terms of the conservation area issue I think it looks quite nice and fits in with the surroundings. Besides, you have St Pauls Tower looming in the background anyway! Well done the Council for doing something to help the city centre at a time when many businesses are struggling.
evolution200
The full planning application can be found here: http://planning.sheffield.gov.uk/publicaccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=KJZGUBNY0IS00&searchtype=WEEKLY Comments either in favour or against the application can be submitted online
ormester101
I agree fargate for a wheel this size is the wrong location a ideal location is tudour square its the same size as the manchester one not like the great yarmouth wheel which is 40 m its actually a real coup for sheffield to get this wheel as well not many cities in the uk have had a wheel like this and theres a lot of competetion to get the wta wheels. Captain_Scarlet
Shame, why are there "capsules" and not seats? Is this a pale imitation of the London big wheel thing opposite Parliament? I love the idea of a ferris wheel though the design of this one is not very attractive. The application's only for temporary sitting, if anything, it'll go next January. Is this the wheel that used to be in York at the NRM?
Randy
Why is it every time we get something new in Sheffield, everyone can't wait to slag it off before they've even tried it?

HotPhil
Vandalised you mean. If it would fit in Tudor Square it might be a better site - cover up the awful state it's been reduced to and perhaps get some people there again. Fargate's congested enough as it is.
