Doesn't the Bible say you cannot wear mixed fabrics on certain days, punishable by death!

I bet it says plenty about Catholic priests not interfering with Choir boys as well but that doesn't stop them.

I think with religion you have to destinguish between God and those who claim to speak on His behalf.

That's a very easy distinction to make though, considering that god almost certainly doesn't exist.

Right in reply to tab1's challenge here we are

The general outlook on the Islam religion as reported in the media seems to one of a subdued religion which is happy to go with the flow and is peaceful and moderate, this is contrary to the widespread reports of atrocities, subjugation of women, anti Semitism etc that actually by its actions is the true face of Islam.Im sure we are all intelligent enough to learn which is the true face and Im also sure that questions need answering if Islam is going to be accepted in this country as a alternative or equal religion to our Christian background

So a discussion on theology of Abrahamic religions means one replacing the other in your book Thebanginman? A discussion is for understanding perspectives but can't see anything of the sort here, with people all too eager to tell us what they think.

How many people expressing their views one way or the other have actually read any religious books in search for understanding that religion and how many have stayed the course and claim to have understood what message?

How many of you can distinguish cultural practices from the religious requirements, and how many confuse one for the other about any of the three Abrahamic religions?

The question here is what does the word Islam mean? Not what it means to you, but the meaning of the Arabic word used by the people who spoke that language.

In my experience, religion means trouble. I have reached the conclusion that the world is an enigma, a harmless enigma made terrible only by our own mad attempts to interpret it as though it has some underlying truth....just a thought that I had whilst showering.

I hate to appear as a total gonk, but Star Trek is actually based on secular humanism, so it is not actualy a religious system, rather a philosophical perspective. :x
