Pook   10 #1 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) hello all,  Right, there are a few socials in the planning, but we thought we ought to get things going with a good old fashioned pub crawl! Sheffield's Kelham Island is not only the home of the beautiful 'Riders on the Storm', but it also has a number of fine establishments willing to provide the bourgeousie of this fine city with good drinks in fantastic surrounds. Or at least a beer in a pub. Take your pick, either works for me.  So with this in mind, we're planning on heading down that way very soon.  Starting at the Shakespeare, West Bar at 7.30pm, Friday June 12th, we'll be visiting the Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern and The Riverside before maybe heading into town.  So, get your best drinking boots out, and we'll see you there!  Stick your name down if you're interested!  Chris and Diana Socially Secsy since 2009.   The Shakespeare http://www.sheffieldpub.co.uk/pubs/west-bar/shakespeare-hotel/ Edited June 4, 2009 by Pook
 Share this content via...
Edible   10 #2 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) What about the wellington -previously called the cask & cutler? (Sheffield Pub of the Year 1996, 1999, and 2001). It has a micro brewery out back and stocks alot of beers from other local microbrewers. It's just next to the shalesmoor tram stop and a minute away from kelham island or the shakespeare. This and the fat cat and kelham island tavern were the classic real ale triangle.  Reviews Website  PS Count me in Edited May 25, 2009 by Edible
 Share this content via...

Pook   10 #6 Posted May 27, 2009 it's been suggested (by me early on) as a potential - but at the mo we've got 5 pubs in the mix and the Harlequin would be towards the end of the night, and as I think we'll probably get louder and louder, I think Riverside drinks late on would be best! Edible   10 #7 Posted May 27, 2009 Makes sense. We can always drop the wellie too, good beers but the fat cat/kelham tav are nicer pubs. Guess we'll meet in the shakespeare and see how it goes from there.
 Share this content via...
