Unregistered   10 #30 Posted October 25, 2009  The line is part of a scheme called the 2020 plan, they say the line will be re-opened and there will be a new station at Wadsley Bridge.  That's more like a dream than a scheme.  Who's going to pay the hundreds of thousands of pounds that it would cost to set up and run?  The People of Oughtibridge, Deepcar and Stocksbridge would be better served by a dedicated feeder bus service that connected them with the fabulous SuperTram service from Middlewood.  SYPTE pull your finger out. Unregistered   10 #32 Posted October 25, 2009  More like millions, however, if we are serious about public transport in this county then it has to be done.  Then we better start looking at electrical transport.  Apart from horses, electricity will be soon be the only energy source available in Britain. We will need all the wind farms and nuclear power stations that we can get our grubby hands on.  Governments of oil and gas producing countries around the world are not going to sell the last drop of their own energy supplies.  They will suddenly turn off the tap - it will hit us like a bomb - sooner than we realise - and oil producers will keep what they have left for their own military and domestic needs.  Anyone got a pony and trap going to Sunny Spain next year ??? dibbles   10 #33 Posted October 25, 2009 just to let you know that as far as i know the only trains to go on that line are feight trains and they dont travel to the steel works at stocksbridge they travel to the steelworks at the bottom of foxhill behind the old station at about 2 in the morning (varied) and you can get onto the line there aswell from the bottom where the hillsborough snooker club is as there is a little footpath that leads directly onto the old line
 Share this content via...
