shane39 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 What about people like the woman in Ireland who just had 6? lol You pick out your favourite 3 and the runts are dumped.
shane39 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 £120 a month for nowt .. what a deal.. That's a lot of beer n fags.
blurt Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 did prince philip once comment on how many kids people should have in britain? some years ago
LibertyBell Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Child benefit is one of the few universal benefits (not subject to means testing) and I think it should be left alone Why should people earning good money get state benefits? I would scrap it altogether. It is knocked off IS anyway so the poorest wouldn't suffer.
Plain Talker Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Rather generous, I would say you should only get CB for the first child. When I was a child, the parents did not get CB (or Family Allowance, as it was called then...) for the first child, it was only payable for the second, and subsequent child(ren). My mother didn't get "Fam" for me, only for my two younger sisters. I think there was a law enacted, shortly before I left school, which made "Fam" payable for the eldest child, but of course it didn't give my mother very much extra, nor for very long! I STR it was about £2.50 or £3 a child back then.
katy1981 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 £120 a month for nowt .. what a deal.. its not like most of us mothers go and blow it on drugs and booze ya know, i save mine and it gets spent on school trips, clothing, school dinners, uniforms, and we put a little of it away each month if we can into the kids accounts, and i certainly didnt choose to have my children based on £30 extra a week.
HeadingNorth Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Why should people earning good money get state benefits? Pragmatically, because it's cheaper to pay it even to millionaires, than it would be to means-test it and only pay to the deserving.
Tipex Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I dont think you should be allowed children if you cannot afford them! You've only got to look at jeremy kyle to see how freely these people have sex with different partners and produce unwanted children.
HeadingNorth Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I dont think you should be allowed children if you cannot afford them! So what to do with the children? Stick them in orphanages? Forcible adoption? Euthanasia?
Tipex Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 So what to do with the children? Stick them in orphanages? Forcible adoption? Euthanasia? Don't have them?? I'd like a kid but i cant afford one and im enjoying my time alone before i settle down.
