My Dad has a booklet on the history of Walkley, I will have to see if I can find it the next time I'm there. I live just off Walkley Bank Road myself. The Sheffield Directories kept at the Local Studies Library at the Central Library have lists of streets in them so they will give you some background. I have access to some of the data at home so if you want to pm me your address I will look it up.

There is also a book "A Walkley Camera" that contains some good photos and lots of history. It focuses more on the parts of Walkley that have changed the most and so was a bit light on the bits that I wanted, but it still evokes distant memories for me. Might be worth looking out.

The "Old Barnsley" stall on Barnsley Indoor Market has a large section on Sheffield, and can usually get hold of anything anyone asks for. He has all his photos on display in ring binders round the stall for people to look through.

Yes - it's one of a series of "Picture Memories" books by John Wrigley and is available via Amazon, see here. Other, similar books are A Sheffield Camera, A Sheffield Colour Camera, Wrigley's Sheffield, A Hillsborough Camera, An Ecclesfield Camera, A Pitsmoor Camera, An East End Camera, A Darnall Camera etc.

I also have a number of old local directories (for 1901, 1905, 1925, 1942, 1968 and 1973) as well as access to census returns for 1911 and earlier, and I'm always willing to look up addresses to see who lived there at these times.
