Whoopee - we now have two "smoking pubs"!

Recommended Posts

yipeeeeeeeee life might come back now to living again instead of staying in and not interacting with people. Right to choose. I say let all pubs allow smoking any where and send the bluddy non-smokers outside in the rain, wind, snow and be social outcasts like we have had to put up with for last 2 years. Thank god for the land lady with bottle. I will go and buy her a drink and give her a fag!!!!

So before the ban you and your friends said,"no were not going out cos its too smoky" Yeh right!!

Nobody moaned before the ban,The moaning non smokers just found it something to moan about after the event and if it wasnt that, it would be something else.

Yes, actually :) But call me a liar if it makes you feel better lol. I never wanted to go for pub lunches before but we actually enjoy doing so now, because it's lovely to be able to spend the rest of the day without my hair and clothes smelling of other peoples stale fag smoke. I've been to the pub tonight and it will be fantastic to lie in bed tonight and not have to smell smoke on my hair every time I turn over.

Wibbles put it perfectly. I don't care if smokers smoke, they can do what they like in their own homes or in an open space, I couldn't give a hoot. I only care when they selfishly inflict it on everybody else in the vicinity, which is what inevitably happens in enclosed spaces such as pubs. And believe it or not, I don't mind the smell of fresh cigarettes, I used to smoke myself infact, but inevitably the whole place soon reeks of stale old smoke that sticks to everybody until they next shower and wash their clothes, and it's not pleasant. It's like when a smoker comes and sits by you on the tram, you can smell it immediately and it's kind of :gag:

Surely, as the voice of reason, all these people slagging this off is unfair.

Smokers, regardless of the health risks, should be allowed to have some places where they can socially smoke. I can't see any problems here at all. The smokers get their bars and everyone else can go avoid those pubs like the plague if they don't like smoking.

I can't see why anyone would be annoyed by this. Everyone gets what they want this way.

There is something called choice - if you're a smoker go to a smoing pub and if you're not then go to a non smoking pub or keep out of the smoking room - SIMPLE!

There is something else called choice...choosing to smoke and face god knows how many diseases or choosing not to smoke...those who choose not to smoke shouldn't be subjected to other people's harmful cigarette smoke...there's no choice in that. Good on the government for the smokiong ban...long may it last!

Here we go again - another non smoker that thinks he's going to live forever and is immune from disease - FACT - we are all likely to get ill - FACT - we are all going to die - NON SMOKERS, unfortunately ARE NOT EXEMPT!

No...but at least non-smokers are not sitting there with a fag in their mouth and welcome arms greeting the many cancers and lung diseases that will most probably come their way! Just because we're all gonna die one day doesn't mean we have to try and speed up the process through our own stupidity.

a question to all the non smokers that want everyone to quit this filthy habit

if eveyone stopped smoking how do you suppose the goverment will recoup the lost revenue they get from the tax on cigs?

They'd save a bloody fortune on NHS bills from the many millions spent on people with self inflicted smoking diseases...that should balance things out a bit

I should think that the discomfort from standing in a smoking shelter would be nothing compared to the discomfort they are likely to get from the future illnesses that smokers are storing up for themselves through their filthy habit......

But at least they are only going to inhale each others carcinogens

I think it sad that people are so bothered about the fact that they arent/are allowed to smoke in a pub.Is it really that important an issue in the large scale of things.?

There are many sad things that happen in this world and not been able to smoke in a pub is not at the top of the list.

We are very very priveledged in this country. The media hypes everything up and gets everyone in a frenzy over things that quite frankly are not such a big issue when you look at some of the problems that people in other countries have with starvation, oppression and violence.

I think that it should be put in to perspective thats all. If you can no longer go to the pub to smoke, then invite some friends round to your own home and get a few drinks in. There are other ways to socialise other than in a public place.
