1960s?? scalextric and cars, what are they worth??

Recommended Posts

hey all ive got an old triang scalextric track and a two old racing cars one of which is c4 electra which i know is worth something, we also have a john player lotus 77 in display box and a tryrrel ford car in box too,

from my internet research its a 1960s track and one sold boxed at auction in 2003 for £1000, but this is not boxed and some things need restoring, some dont.

ive googled in vain over last few days and just wonder if anyone has any idea what it may be worth these days, they are being sold on ebay but only for small amounts, help people of sheffield x

Remember having one of these as a young kid..even then I remember always fixing it.

Probably not much I would think.....No box, restoration etc. Bit like a Chippendale without draws.:D

Best o luck though.

For what it is worth I sold a shed load of the stuff a couple of years ago.

There were 3 track sets and several individual pieces which allowed a massive layout. There were also buildings, figures, a PA, 2 motorbikes, and a total of 7 cars.

The problem was it had all been used rather a lot. It made just over £500 for the lot.

Have you tried to get to a decent toy fair ?

A friend of mine took me to one in a school on the edge of Rotherham years ago and I built up my collection of Scalextric that way - it was mostly train nuts but this stuff was well in evidence

This is the kind of thing I mean, a litlte time on google would probably find better

http://www.collectors-club-of-great-britain.co.uk/events/

There used to be a real good one held at the showground north of Lincoln but if you know any model train fans they cold probalby find something more local

Also, have you looked at what a shop based dealer would offer - there is one up the road from Ponsfords I pass on the bus every day, another in Attercliffe

And there must be a UK scalextric club, be a good way to get a fair price I would suspect

hope that helps

I wonder if my Dad still has his old stuff up in the loft, it probably got a bit more hammer the 2nd time around when me and my brother would use it, but it was mostly still working.

There is a specialist who lives at Bents Green. I passed the lot on to him and he shifted the lot for a commission.

If you PM me with a contact email or phone number I will get him to contact you.
