Which is the best zoo? Twycross or Chester?

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Taking the kids (3 & 4) to the zoo tomorrow and wondered if you could give me your views on either zoo. Not sure which one to go to as they are both about the same distance from Sheffield.

Thanks

We went to chester zoo 2 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went outside of school holidays on a week day so wasnt very busy.

If you do can i recommend getting a helium balloon on way out-we got our 2 year old one as soon as we got there, and it was a pain all day.

Twycross has more Chimps/Monkeys (used to be home to the Brook Bond Chimps) Not much else between em IMHO.

Might be worth checking the websites.

Haven't been to Twycross for years but we went to Chester Zoo a couple of months back and loved it! We'll definitely go again at some point.

I think that Chester Zoo has a lot more different animals than Twycross. But if you like monkeys then Twycross is the best. I can spend a whole day at Chester Zoo but Twycross takes about half a day. Also, Chester Zoo is nearly twice as expensive as Twycross

Last time i went to Chester zoo,i'm sure they had an albino Rhino.

Am i right? Or did i dream it?

It's a great zoo,but stretch your day out,(picnic etc:)It don't take too long before you have seen everything.

My memory is terrible but i'm pretty sure that Chester zoo is one of the few zoos that specialises in breeding Rhino's. And yes they are big buggers.

Tell you where i enjoyed it..Flamingoland..All the rides and the zoo.

Luvely jubbely day out and the kids loved it,especially when a lion cocked up it's tail and piddled right over the compound and on to 2 young unsuspecting girls walking past.

When a lion pees it pees like a firemans hose.:D

Bloody hell! i wonder if you went the same time as me?

There was this monkey with a checked shirt on,(i think he was a bit of a ladies monkey)Anyway he was sh#t hot with the girls. He was strutting about with his monkihood hanging out and backscuttling the local apetart big style.

I had to divert my kids attention to the ice-cream van.

I did say to my ex though.."Why don't you let me do that?":hihi:
