ddixon 10 #1 Posted May 11, 2005 I am absolutely sick to death of bad drivers. I was driving along earlier and some *#$# decided to cut lanes with no warning, or indication, he just thought ‘oh I’m in the wrong lane, I’ll move over, sod everyone else’. Now normally I'm quite a calm person but he did this blatantly, I understand some people genuinely lack attention span, but this guy, just thought he was superior because he had a stupidly over sized vehicle! Luckily I saw what he was doing just before he took away the front of my car (literally), so what do I do, I beep at him, and he replies by beeping back and slamming on his breaks to try and make me crash into him again, like I said I know people make mistakes and most, when they are genuine make apologies, but he was just conceited. So if you see a youngish white guy in a black massive 4x4 - XXXXXXX (needed due to the huge numbers of cattle you see in Sheffield centre!) keep away from him as he is likely to damage you and your car, (and in my case my 5 month old unborn child)! And if the bloke in question reads this, I hope that in future your actions only cause you harm and not the innocent ones others around you! RichD 10 #2 Posted May 11, 2005 Really annoying when people do that. If you ask me there's no excuse for not looking properly before you perform a manoeuvre. I was forced out of my lane on the Ponds Forge roundabout by some eejit in a big red van the other day because he didn't look before changing lanes. Lucky he was a nose ahead of me, or I might not have seen him in time to react.
 Share this content via...
GazB 10 #3 Posted May 11, 2005 For most drivers, lane discipline is non existent.
 Share this content via...
JoeP 11 #4 Posted May 11, 2005 Mod. Note Quick reminder - please don't post Registration Numbers to the thread. If you feel that badly go to the local nick and report them there! Joe
 Share this content via...
nightrider 13 #5 Posted May 11, 2005 They should make the test harder. And make people retake it every 5 or 7 years maybe. A car is potentially lethal so it seems absurd people who blatantly dont drive safely are allowed on the roads! And on the plus side given there are a lot of bad drivers watch pollution drop as they are forced onto public transport when they lose their licences! savbaby 10 #6 Posted May 11, 2005 i once cut someone up at meadowhall roundabout (the one at TGI fridays) it was a complete mistake as i had only just passed my text and got confused how the lanes worked at that part (they split a strangeway) i looked at the woman and said sorry but she insisted on cutting me up all the way along the road and folowing me, i was a wreck as i was 5 months pregnant at the time and was worried she would hurt my baby. every since then if i am in wrong lane and cant get out i just wait!!!!! dinp 10 #7 Posted May 12, 2005 The Moore Street Roundabout (St Mary's Road/Ecclesall Road) in town is the worst for lane layout. Even the best of drivers will have to make sharp manoevures to be within the lines for the correct lane. Turning right from Ecclesall Road to St mary's Road there are two lanes on the approach for this direction. However, they expect drivers to drive almost head on into the traffic exiting Moore Street, then put full lock on to steer right so as not to block people wishing to turn right into Eccy Road from St Mary's Road. Also bad is the roundabout near Asda Handsworth. If you're heading out towards the M1 on Parkway and turn off, the arrows on both sliproad lanes say you can turn right. However, if you choose the right hand lane on the sliproad, you find yourself crossing a thick white line to join the B6200. Anyway, I divert from the point. I can't name and shame a particular bad driver, but I can give a general description. It was a bus with the First logo emblazened upon it and has caused me many near misses all over Sheffield. This creep must be caught!
 Share this content via...
Don_Kiddick 11 #8 Posted May 12, 2005 I recently wanted to name & shame those drivers who think the world is their ashtray/ garbage tip. You know the ones - who flick still burning fag ends out of car windows regardless of passing people or kids, or those who tip their ashtrays out into the street or lob fag packets out etc etc. Not to mention the mobile phone law breakers! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! As a pedestrian I often have time to note reg's & vehicle descriptions. But I'm afraid it's not allowed on here. Guess I'll just have to continue passing details over to Police
 Share this content via...

I'm fab at memorising number plates, I could easily memorise it, write it down when I'm at the traffic lights and have 'em nicked... There is no deterrant with just a £30 ban in place... So perhaps if the public could self-report it would be good. Mind you, you wouldnt have any evidence, you'd only be a witness and I doubt the police would do anything about it as some people would report people they didn't like through spite... Hmmm... Saxon 10 #10 Posted May 12, 2005 You CAN actually report someone for dangerous driving but unfortunately there needs to be 2 independent witnesses. Obviously you'd be one of them but try getting someone else..... What really p***es me off is when its done deliberatley to one of my pupils. They must know that reactions times aren't as fast! Nightrider - you're talking my language. Re-test, re-test, te-test!! (particularly those over 70 - what an ideal opprotunity to do it when they have to re-apply for their driving licence). Sorry folks - rant over:blush:
 Share this content via...

Bear in mind that these days there is so much more traffic than there was 20 or 30 years ago and so called " experienced drivers" often pull out dangerously in front of us "new drivers" and we haven't got the experience in driving to react appropriately. I would actually say that the experienced drivers are more dangerous than new drivers. I hate Brook Hill roundabout, I attempted it for the first time on my own today, I was actually shaking!! I dunno actually Caprice, I've never really grassed anyone up but I do get very irritated by the culprits. Only today infact I saw a woman driving along a dual carriageway, moby in right hand, left hand fluffing hair in rear-view mirror Maybe if the police checked the 'log' of the phone bill they could tell when the phone was in use... Maybe a Forum Policeman could put us straight?
 Share this content via...
