Anyone come from Grimesthorpe? (Part 2)

YES i BELIEVE SO? am in touch with David(1st son) the other brothers read this thread so you will get some feedback! Dennis last lived on Malton st pitsmoor sybils brother was pat he moved down south after parting with Glynis :thumbsup:did you know that sybil looked after Ronnie Billam in later years at a care home :thumbsup:[/Q

Malton St is just above where I live on Lyons Rd,Pat that's it been racking mi brain cell all day.No didn't know she looked after Ronnie,he was at an home on Grimesthorpe Rd just before the Teagardens pub then he was moved and never found out where he went.He still knew me lovely man.Down to two pubs now on Gower St,Oak and Grapes,Staff shut last week.Sheila

Hiya Sheila, This Ronnie yer talking about is he the chap that use

to wave his arms about , he would say things like i'am gunner fetch

the police, he use to pretend to write yer name down.

He was always to be seen top end of Bothom st.

HAHA! thats him a reyt lad when he got his hands on a coppers whistle nobody was safe he even saw people across the roads ! Glad he never got hold of a truncheon or we would have been in bother!:hihi:

The talk of Ronnie was mentioned in the Alan Billam -book about Grimesthorpe

he went to live in a nice home in Skegness facing the sea, dont know year.

I make it 9 on a thur night u got nothing else better to do than hang around here u could be down at the pub quilling a cold one:D:D:D

More bad news, heard the other day the 'Staff' just off Carlisle St has closed.

And another pub shut-- Corner pin on Carlisle rd been shut for some

time, can see builders shop blasting the brick work.

The firm behind the pub have bought it for offices.

Didn't know that about Corner Pin, thought it was being refurbished, not many left now.
