Hi Pigeon, Did them cottages in chambers lane have back doors.

Does anyone remember the name Charlie Downs from Chambers Lane. He was a friend of my father. I seem to remember he had a motorbike and sidecar.

John Carnell lived in the house next to the dyke, Upwell St side of the Homeric, last time I spoke to him, a few years ago, he lived out Hackenthorpe way, and was an electrician with the council.

Heard some sad news yesterday, The Sheffield Arms, is to shut down this coming Wednesday. It seems they have been struggling for some time, so when the beer runs out, that's it, another one gone.

Its a sad loss the ARMS is to close another statistic in this economic climate hope some one can take it on its a little bit more of Grimesthorpes history down the pan!

Hi brian 1941, thinking about John Carnell, when their house on Chambers Lane was demolished, they moved to Bracken Road. I remember him having a BSA Bantam, the first motorbike that I drove (off the road of course).

May be he's a little absent minded:hihi:
