CornishRose   10 #3649 Posted June 2, 2011 Hi I have always been intrested in this place i lived all my life, Grimesthorpe. I think i know quite a bit about our area, and keep learning more information from you people on this thread. I wonder if any one knows of a Local History Group of this area.  Hi. Someone has posted on another thread re a silver trowel used to lay the foundation stone of Grimesthorpe Primitive Methodist Church. Does anyone know if that was the Methodist Church on the hill? Does anyone know if that was the Methodist Church on the hill?  The chapel on Grimesthorpe road was known as the Grimesthorpe Primitive Methodist Chapel.  Interestingly, there was a chapel on Owler Lane called the Primitive Methodist Chapel. If my memory serves me correctly I think it was used for woodwork or something similar by Owler Lane Secondary School pupils.
