johnpm   18 #6373 Posted March 11, 2014 From the 53rd I can see Les Cusworth & I think Ian Pinhorn is back row 5th from left (as you look at it). I recognise lad to Ian's right from 53rd but can't give him a name. I think Neil Ward may be 5th from left on middle row with Les Minnis to his left. I have sent photo to Neil for him to let us know if its him & if so when was it. I am surprised that the 53rd has so few there. Chris Crossey thinks some of the 42nd (probably actually 21st Platoon at the time) are there too & its the time when Roy Crossey was involved in it. John  I have found from Neil Ward (who is on photo) that it was taken at Sheringham in 1962
 Share this content via...
mrsJDS Â Â 10 #6374 Posted March 11, 2014 Sad news, Winnie Martin who used to live on the corner of Southwell Rd passed away yesterday well into her nineties. She had moved to a nursing home in Chapeltown just last week to be near to her son John.
 Share this content via...
Liza 2 Â Â 10 #6375 Posted March 13, 2014 Just come back from the school run to find the bulldozers knocking down St holidays church, so sad, those lovely stone pillars being knocked to the ground :-( Â Â Which and where is that church? johnpm   18 #6376 Posted March 13, 2014 Can any former Grimesthorpe BB members identify anyone from this 21st and 53rd BB Camp at Sheringham about 1962. Come on TFishcake and Hawkshead Boy you are pictured on here!  I should have posted to this. Neil Ward says that yes it was Sheringham in 1962. fleetwood   10 #6378 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) This is not on topic I know but I am wondering if anybody could answer my query. Tupholmes heating and ventilating (also known as a sheetmetal co) was situated on one of the roads off Petre St, I'm talking walking on the righthand side with your back to town after the houses had finished and facing the end of Petre St, there was a small road that went down (?), I think a part of Firth Browns might have been on the left side of this road and Tupholmes faced them. My questions are, does Tupholmes still exist? if so, is it the same company with the same name doing the same thing, or did it change hands and possibly go into a different line of work or even if the building still exists? I only went into the area where the pews and organ are a few times, but those two pics have revived my memory. Looks much brighter now than I remember it!  Regards, Peter. fleetwood   10 #6383 Posted March 14, 2014 Great photos John, one little question, does the stage in the side chapel still exist? As you probably remember that's where they held the Panto's, they were very professional with excellent costuming, they had make -up artists come in to do all actors make-up, as I have said before, it was all very professional.  ---------- Post added 14-03-2014 at 15:16 ----------  That would be Garter St,I remember the company, but left in '81 so have no idea of any history ,sorry. ---------- Post added 14-03-2014 at 04:24 ----------  Don't know if its connected but it,s in the right place Fox General Sheet Metal Precision Works, Garter St, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S4 7QX, United Kingdom ‎ +44 114 244 3988 ‎  Hi beezerboy - The two postings answered my questions, one company left or went out of business, at some point another company took over the premises and it would seem to be doing similar work in the fabricating industry. Thanks a bunch.
 Share this content via...
