Moran's restaurant review in The Guardian

Well done Moran's that was a fabulous review and score. I'd never heard of Moran's until the review, so they must be keeping it local. Great to hear of somewhere in Sheffield making great food.

It is a very good place, some of the best food I`ve had in Sheff and they seem to have a fair number of loyal local regulars. Worth a try! :)

I'm not happy. Tried getting in there 3 times already and they've been fully booked every time. They must be doing somehing right. Now with the great review it's going to be even harder. Well done to them.

well done morans!

I have been for sunday lunch and an evening meal and the food is superb. The owners are lovely people and the waiting staff truly fantastic. A very well deserved review. Can't wait to go back for more.

Excellent restaurant. I was taken there for my birthday last year by my parents. Really hard to get in as it's always fully booked but we were fitted in at a early slot. Amazing food and excellent service. Would reccomend it to anyone and would love to go again! Even my dad loved it! And he's hard to please!

A well deserved review!

I have been enjoying Brian Moran's cooking since his days running the kitchen at the sadly missed Aitchs in Bakewell.

Must admit I was initially worried when I heard he was striking out on his own at Dore as that site has been a graveyard for a number of other decent chefs.

Pleased for him and Sarah that they are making such a go of the place. The timing of this review in the current economic climate must be very welcome.

Moran’s in Sheffield is a hidden gem, says critic

(23 March 2009 12:54)

Matthew Norman at the Guardian struggled to remember the last time he found “a hidden gem quite as deeply buried” as Moran’s, after a visit to the Sheffield restaurant.

The critic is truly surprised by the self-styled wine bar in a single-storey building in an unprepossessing parade in an affluent suburb of the city.

He applauds the quality of chef Bryan Moran’s cooking and the patience of lone waitress Leila and predicts this is one business that will survive the recession.

- Well done

I've been at a weekend lunchtime, and found it very nice indeed (aside from the small children that were dashing around half the time I was there). Couldn't fault the place itself at all.

I've had so many meals spoilt by children running round the restaurant that I just don't go out for meals any more. This makes me so cross - a great-sounding place with terrific testimonials and I won't go in case it's yet another unpleasant experience.

How many more customers like me have restaurants lost because of a family friendly policy which means that there is every chance that your evening will be ruined ?

Why not just go in the evening when there is less chance of there being children about? Bit of common sense and they can be avoided ;)

What are prices like? I may take my girlfriend as a surprise next week.

If you'd bothered to read my post instead of using it as an opportunity to try to be clever, you'd have noticed that I said evenings out had been ruined. Not lunchtimes. If you think children don't go to restaurants in the evenings, you don't get out much.
