What's your favourite Sheffield scene/view?

Recommended Posts

next to stocksbridge and Deepcar golf club are some big hills and at the top of them you can see all south yorkshire forest.

on a clear day the view is awsome.

Also ive only been once to this and dont know exactly what its called but its at the very top of end of hillsborough golf club, just passed it actually, its some sort of common and when you stand there you can see for miles.

my other favourite view is the very top right hand side of rivelin valley, where the private houses are and theres a cottage there , higher up from the old chapel.

you can see the entire rivelin valley area and more from there.

can anyone help me with the correct names for these places.

Views of the city centre from Norfolk Heritage Park.

Views of the city centre and rolling moors of the Peak District from the top of Daresbury area in Arbourthorne, and from the Kenninghall area of Norfolk Park (especially in August, when the moors are purple with heather, or anytime snow is lying on the ground).

Views from above Grenoside Woods across vast swathes of South Yorkshire.

But you can't beat Meersbrook Park for that marvellous panoramic view across the city and the distant hills. The view from just below the Bishop's House is simply fantastic!

The view from where Shirecliffe College used to be is amazing. It is now a housing estate, Standish Way but leading onto Parkwood Springs on a clear day you can see for miles. If you did take some photographs for postcards you should let us know, I would be really interested in buying some!

From the top of Barnsley Road, opposite Crabtree Pond, looking down over Fir Vale. On a sunny day Fir Vale looks like a wonderful village in the valley with the church spire in the centre & the green hill of Wincobank rising in the background.

Some beautiful scenes from the high spots of Graves park, and the view of the skyline from the playingfields behind the fire training centre on Beaver hill road

It is a great view from the top of Kenninghall Road on Norfolk Park. You get a real panoramic eyeful of the city.

I too feel very lucky to live where there are so may tree's and all the greenery in Sheffield in general and on Gleadless Valley.

hi, it was a few years ago, but they're still out there, try Hedgerow Publishing, sadly i'm not credited on them but i took a night shot of the city centre from just below the old Hyde Park flats looking over Park Square roundabout, and a night shot of Victoria Quays with shattered ice on the surface as well as a night shot of the Leadmill. I sort of specialised in night shots, but i supplied all sorts of things for them.

I like the view from the top of East Bank Road. You can see practically all of Sheffield.

As for Jawbone Hill, I used to live up there it is a great view.

I love the view from my bedroom window in Crookes. I live in an attic room right at the top of all the hills, and on a clear day can see for 30 miles right over Sheffield. Can't wait for summer to get my camera out and take pictures!

Not Sheffield, but close enough I would say.

My favourite local view is from the bottom of Bamford, looking up at the village with Bamford Edge in the background - about an hour before sunset as the sun comes across Winhill and makes the edge look stunning.
