mazmw   10 #241 Posted March 21, 2009 I feel like crying. I really do. So if I'm a thief and I steal your car from a carpark (or anywhere away from your address), do you really think I'm going to trawl Street View on the off chance I can locate your car (parked at your home address) AND that the number plate is un-blurred AND that your house number is visible or accurately displayed on Street View.  Ignoring the above, wouldn't it just be easier for me to steal your car from outside your house then I'd know where you live?  And ignoring both of the above, do you really think that if the police stopped me driving a car with a smashed window and wires dangling under the steering wheel they'll accept that I'm the legal owner, just because I know the address the car is registered to?  I could go on, I really could, but I can't tell whether I'm having my leg pulled. I can't help but feel people are criticising Street View because it's a modern advancement, but are criticising under the guise of invasion of privacy (which it isn't). you tell em
 Share this content via...

InvalidUser   10 #244 Posted March 21, 2009 It would be socially responsible to keep minors out of the photos Won't somebody think of the children!
 Share this content via...
Squiggs   11 #245 Posted March 21, 2009 I was photographed once as a child. It went in a newspaper article that evening, me and my friends playing in the primary school playground alongside an article on expected careers, asking what we would be doing in 20 years time.  Well, after that it was a nightmare. My life was ruined. I had been.......   ......gasp.......   .......PHOTOGRAPHED!  I don't know how I overcame the ordeal.
 Share this content via...
Tiger_lily   10 #246 Posted March 21, 2009 They don't seem to have covered very much of the part of S20 that I live in (Sothall/Waterthorpe area) - gutted! Are they just updating it over time or is that it, can I not look at my street ever!?  I think it's brilliant though, amusing to say the least. I remember the google car zooming past me, but cannot for the life of me remember where I was at the time so can't even see if it's a good picture of me, if it did get included lol
 Share this content via...
Minimo   59 #247 Posted March 21, 2009 I like the route planner. It tells me exactly how to get from Sheffield to Portsmouth on foot, time taken 2 days 19 hours. Or if you are me , 2 weeks 2 days 19 hours.
 Share this content via...

If you see a small car with large tripod attached to the top of it, those are the google map guys/girls.
 Share this content via...
