Kristi   10 #1 Posted March 3, 2009 Hi  I'm a Journalism student at Sheffield Uni and for my coursework I am researching and reporting stories in the Crookes area.  Was just wondering if anybody knew of any notable stories? (such as shops/pubs closing down, crimes, fights, student related...or any other information that may be useful?)  I am talking to people face to face in the area as well, this is just a starting point.  Thanks and I appreciate any feedback Kristi
 Share this content via...

websters gue   16 #9 Posted March 4, 2009 Dickens the butchers has now closed down, although I think it was called Butlers lately. Been there for years.  Is this correct? It always seemed to be doing well with people queuing out on the street at weekends.I used to pop in now and again for one of their hot roast pork sandwiches. calendula   10 #11 Posted March 4, 2009 what about the snow in 2007/8 over christmas - some students built a giant erect penis made out of snow in the car park near co-op and the police made them knock it down due to public indecency. I have the pics to prove it (btw i wasn't one of the students who built it, i was watching instead)
 Share this content via...
Mandem   13 #12 Posted March 4, 2009 yes but not due to business not doing well.  I know it was not due entirely to business not doing well, but surely if it was a viable business, it could have been sold as a going concern.
 Share this content via...
