How is a 5yr old supposed to know these answers(I don`t even know em!)

I would be tempte to give the quiz back to the teacher, if she wants him to answer tose questions then its her job to teach them to him.

They are not even things a 5yr old would "need" to know.

This is part of the new interventions used to monitor a child's learning development.

All this is filed and used when it comes to assessing Secondary School allocations.

But he`s 5.

I`m all for parents taking a role in teaching their child, but thats just ridiculous.

The parental role in the success of a child's education is now understood to be critical.

This test is to assess the parents' abilities and will be used to identify those with little chance of advancement ... and efforts will be concentrated on those with parents with higher teaching skills.

..and if you believe all this, what chance have we got?

I understand(and agree) that its important for parents to be involved.

But thats just daft.

How can they assess the child on the parent thats teaching them? Sometimes I help my kids with their homework, sometimes my OH does. Now I`m a bit(quite a bit) of a dumb ass, but my partner is very intelligent(tries to pretent he`s not though :)) so how can they use that?
