What appears to be happening at Park Academy is that kids from two neighbouring areas, one 95% white and one only 54% white are going to the same school with a "them and us" attitude. It is very sad that by the time they go to secondary school they see the world like this, and may be due to primary schools being predominantly white or predominantly Asian. The Council should be looking at the catchment areas and ethnic make-up of primary schools in Sheffield to ensure that kids grow up seeing other kids for what they are - fellow human beings.

Omg religion is the main division in glasgow. You can't compare that with gang culture.

There are around 170 gangs in Glasgow (about the same number as London) but the population of Glasgow is around 600,000, a tenth of that of London and not much higher than that of Sheffield.

 

Glasgow gangs fight to amuse themselves (it has become known as "recreational violence"). They aren't that different to the Sheffield postcode gangs.

I don't have any figures for Brits moving to Spain over the last ten years and since you were claiming Tony Blair is the reason perhaps you ought to have the evidence you need to back up your claims. Besides, keeping track of the numbers of British expats in Spain is difficult because European Union treaties have given European citizens freedom of movement within the EU and because, according to The Guardian article, many British expats don't apply for a Spanish residence card, some apparently out of "fear of taxation". They have even been accused of being "medical tourists".

It's interesting but in Britain of all the races and colours we never hear of or see the Chinese or Japanese behaving like this.

I thought that many Pakistanis came to England to work in textile mills doing the low-paid night shifts and the dirtier or more physically demanding jobs that white people didn't want to do (people working on day shifts and supervisor jobs were paid more and jobs in other industries paid even more). If it wasn't for those immigrants helping keep mills open for a few decades despite increasing competition from abroad lots of places in Northern England could have been in even more dire economic straits than they were.

If the council were serious about integration and equality they would make all Sheffield's schools have identical curricula and facilities (all having a 6th form and SEN provision for example) and would scrap catchment areas/feeders/sibling associations and instead allocate places on an entirely random lottery basis.

 

If kids go to the local school in their postcode ghetto - whether it's a ghetto in Darnall or a ghetto in Fulwood - then they will never learn to mix.

I am reading alot of us vs them in this thread. At the end of the day these teens are our children the adults of tommorow. They need to learn now this is not the way to behave. One day they will have families of their own and understand the fear felt by the parents on Littledale over the past few days. Asian or white this gang fashion needs to stop. There is no way around it we live in a multicultural society. Deal with it,move on and keep everyone's lives peaceful. There is no reason in this country whatsoever for any kind of civil war.

Of course we have problems what country does not,yes the goverment is not perfect,what goverment is. Do we need to behave like cavemen and abuse each over verbally and physically to get our point across? if there is actually any point atall?
