we definatly need ashworth to give the spirit of sean wilson, rickys been wanting the captaincy 4 a while so now he needs to up his tempo in the pits & show some of wilsons outstanding enthusiasm, we shouldnt be too bad if ricky goes down that route he just seems a little too quiet 4 the job which is a shame cos hes great in the pits when it comes to helping riders with there set ups etc he needs that extra get up & go oomph about him

Ricky Ashworth will be a great captain, if he converts his on track energy into the pits i dont think we will have too much problem, totally agree regarding the Elite League, id love to see the top boys in action but its just not viable at the moment but hopefully one day it is and one day we will see the tigers lift the Elite League crown.

To be honest I think Sheffield would have been better taking the jump in to the elite they would probably attract a even better following and some quality riders.

BUT as for this season I rate sheffield's chances but I think they will struggle away from Owlerton

that means a lot of racing on a monday night because of sky tv & according to machin the attendances would drop so unless sky did coverage of our home matches on a thursday night or sunday we would suffer immensely & im led to believe the stadium owners wont let us do monday nights cos they have dog racing during the day which wouldnt give us the time to properly prepare the track. a track under prepared at owlerton makes 4 bad racing none of us want that do we? the elite league & speedway in general would all love to see the tigers in the elite but until sky come up with a deal or package that is suitable to all those taking part, then we should carry on as we are. ie good crowds good management good track & facilities & hopefully a silverware winning team this season. theres no-one more than neil machin works harder to get speedway up at the forefront of sport in terms of getting the coverage it deserves & promoting the tigers in every way possible. the mans a great ambassador for speedway & in particular everything he does when it comes to the tigers & sheffield long may niel & the tigers continue. Will go to it. They took a surprising thumping at a track they tend to ride well. Still early but i really think they will struggle , particualrly away this year. They really could do with another heateader imo, its just too light weight in the middle order to scare other teams.

scunthorpe 60 tigers 32 scunny scorers howe 8 lambert 6+1 wilkinson 10 bergstrom 8+3 karlsson 13+1 hart 11+1 bekker 4+2 tigers scorers ashworth 3 parsons 7 cooper 2 hawkins 2 hall 12 mills 3+1 auty 3+1. given that this was the 1st meeting of the season as a team & it was away im not gonna slate them too much cos its early days. there is massive room for improvement as the season gets underway. i cant see us making up the deficit in sundays return leg but we shall see how the team can pull together & see if they have any early team spirit

I think we'll struggle away from home, once again we've got alot of big fast track specialists, who will bang the scores in at Owlerton, but will struggle elsewhere.

A succesful speedway team relies on two good heat leaders to keep scoring the points they're expected to (keep their average) and for the other riders to score a few more and to increase their average.

Auty if he can discover a little bit more form and confidence could increase his scoring this season, but i can't see any of the others doing so.

Are any of you attending next weeks Benevolent meeting ? should be a good one.
