scoobz   10 #1 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) WALKING GROUP SOCIAL MEET  Venue: Harlequin, Nursery Street Date: Friday 13th March Occasion: Millionaires Night  This is our latest 'themed night' to follow on from the succesful quiz night, spanish evening, and games nights that we have held. Once again we are holding the evening in the Harlequin, where we have booked a private room for the night from 7.30 onwards. What we are hoping to do is turn the room into a Casino for the night, with tables available all evening for playing games such as roulette, blackjack and pontoon. The format for the evening will be quite simple. Each person who comes will be given a certain amount of specially printed WG money to spend during the evening, and at the end of the night there will be prizes for the people who have won the most money during the night. What we are also wanting people to do is dress up for the occasion too. And if anyone wants to know what I mean by this, just think of James Bond in Casino Royale for the men, and Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes for the ladies! (Evening wear is optional of course, but more fun if you can manage it!) The cost for the evening will be £5 per person, £1 of which go towards prizes for the winners, and £4 for buffet food. Regarding food, I haven't booked this, so can people let me know if they are intending to come as soon as possible please, so I can give the Harlequin approximate numbers sooner, rather than later. Finally, as before, the evening is open to friends and family and non walking group members, but I would like to stress that the cut off date for getting buffet money to me will be 2 days before the event, which is the 11th. Do we have any takers? Edited February 22, 2009 by scoobz amended details
 Share this content via...
neoteric   10 #2 Posted February 20, 2009 That's going to be a fantastic night out, they had one of these - just Roulette and Blackjack - at our works Christmas Dinner and it great fun. Mind you I'm partial to a bit of gambling and it doesn't hurt so much when you loose with pretend money.  I'm looking forward to running the Roulette Wheel and will have plenty of casino chips for you to "buy" with all that funny money that we will be giving away at the start - so come on you budding Millionaires, it's Monte Carlo time.  Could we round the evening off with a late night disco as well
 Share this content via...

Hemlock   10 #5 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) If anyone happens to have any green baize, large roulette wheel, large cloths with roulette or blackjack tables etc. printed on them, please let me know asap, thanks:thumbsup: I think neoteric has got the chips sorted (or was that potato wedges?) Village Owl is, as we speak, is forging cart loads of currency.  Anyone who fancies being banker at one of the tables, please let me know. I thought if we had 2 for each table (hopefully @ 6 tables) then each banker can spend 1/2 the evening banking & 1/2 the evening gambling, then everyone gets the chance to play.  I think I have all the games sorted, but if anyone has ideas for simple gambling games, just let me know.  During the interval we will be having a visit to Ascot - so bring some real 20p's to bet with - yes - REAL money this one! & if any ladies fancy donning a magnificent hat for this race, we will have a 'best hat' competition as well.  So, come on, roll up & put your names down for this one! ________ MICHIGAN DISPENSARIES Edited April 28, 2011 by Hemlock
 Share this content via...

Ooooh horse racing with ladies in elegant hats - and the promise of cake sounds like heaven to me.
