Wildcat   10 #1 Posted February 19, 2009 Why are the Chinese takeaways in Shiregreen so good?  Hong Kong House and the Jade House in particular are both superb, but every chinese I have had around here have been far better than those I have had in town or in West Sheffield.  It is not like there is any noticeable chinese community that you ever see outside of the takeaways themselves.  Does anyone have any ideas? spartacus   10 #2 Posted February 19, 2009 The food from Hong Kong House is routinely good. The delivery time is about 30 - 45 minutes, suggesting that, by and large, the grub is cooked after being ordered rather than pre-cooked.  Haven't tried Jade House yet. I will if it gets enough thumbs-ups.
 Share this content via...

rad   10 #6 Posted February 19, 2009 I don't like Jade House much, but I'm a veggie. Meat eaters may have different views.
 Share this content via...

I have never had a problem with their food.  I had their dragon wrapped prawns yesterday and they were good.
 Share this content via...

Wildcat   10 #11 Posted February 20, 2009 Has anyone tried Sizzling Wok? Its next door to Wonderful on Nethershire lane.  Yes, it has a smaller range than wonderful. The rice is whiter and I think its intention is to be healthier, (in that I think it uses less MSG?)  There is certainly a difference between the two. I like them both in different ways. LJB23 Â Â 10 #12 Posted February 20, 2009 I once ordered from Jade House and it took ages to come - about 1 and half hours, we had to call back twice and when it did come it wasn't all that, never used them since, though this was about 3 years ago. I tend to use China Wok on Herries Rd (near tesco) or flying dragon (ecclesfield) though last time I used flying dragon there curry sauce tasted like hot water! How Wing Loy is by far the best chinese I've tasted (pitsmoor) only they don't deliver, shame.
 Share this content via...
