Burngreave New Deal finishing early!

Recommended Posts

"Burngreave New Deal for Communities has just £400,000 left of its £52 million Government-funded budget, supposed to last 10 years between 2001 and 2011.

Chief executive Ann Allen has told 17 community organisations it supports - which employ 100 people - there will be no more funding from April. Jobs are now at risk as the groups have only a month to find alternative cash."

If Burngreave New Deal for Communities needs to raise more money it could sell its "bling mobile" which cost £130,000.

If you've got a "cru" just think how many members of it you could fit in the bling mobile as you cruise around the city listening to sick tunes on its sound system.

Actually I rented this vehicle for a festival a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. It provided a focal point for performances and had a built in PA system (I think) it was really useful.

52 million quid later and Burngreave probably has more problems than ever before. I reckon for that they should just have given every gangster a few hundred grand and told them to leave the country and not come back.

The issue is that why has it taken to now (Feb) to advise people they are out of funding at the end of the next month?

As the project was supposed to be funded to 2011 - its finishing 2 years early. Where has the money gone? The previous management of the project have lots of new questions to answer I would have thought?

The people who overspent these budgets need to be taken to task. I know that some have been sacked but couldnt criminal proceedings work here? What kind of contracts did they have to adhere to? In order to overspend this much they must surely have breached contracts???
