School dinners , what was your favourite?

Cheese Pie was mine, mashed potatoe, with lots of cheese mixed in it, then encased in a short crust pastry, with sliced tomatoes on top, yummie!!!!!

Cornflake Tart mmmmmmmmmmmm

Serves 4

 

Pastry

8oz plain flour

2oz marge

2oz lard

½ oz caster sugar

1 fl oz water

 

Filling

6oz seedless raspberry jam

2oz butter/marge

2oz caster sugar

1oz golden syrup

6oz cornflakes

 

Make the pastry (sprinkle in sugar after breadcrumb stage before the water)

Line a 8-9 inch flan tin

Chill for 30 mins

Pre heat oven to gas mark 6

Neaten edges and bake blind for 15 mins

Remove baking beans and return to oven for 5-10 mins to dry out

Spread base with jam

Melt the butter/marge, sugar and syrup together in a pan add the cornflakes and mix. Spread this on top of jam and leave to cool and set.

I used to love the Cheese flan when I was in school. In fact I may go and make one now. :D:D

 

Can you post a recipe for school dinner style cheese flan please :D

oh yes, cheese croquettes, quiche or cheese pie as it was known was the daddy or all school dinners

At school a mate, who shall remain nameless, got expelled for stirring the beans with his penis in the sixth form/staff dining room.

We all knew but no one told the staff so only they had beans that day.

 

Yes, it is true, filthy but true. :)
