sacredearth   10 #1 Posted February 13, 2009 Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend Your days are numbered, being brought to an end To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that's fine But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.  The French and the Germans may call themselves such So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane But don't say you're English ever again.  At Broadcasting House the word is taboo In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too Even schools are affected, staff do as they're told They must not teach children about England of old.  Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw The pupils don't learn about them anymore How about Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ? When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.  We are not Europeans, how can we be? Europe is miles away over the sea We're the English from England , let's all be proud Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud !  Let's tell our Government and Brussels too We're proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack Let the world know - WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!! PuressenceUK Â Â 10 #9 Posted February 13, 2009 Very thought provoking and somewhat moving. Ignore the posters who will undoubtedly come along and try to trash their own heritage, or accuse you of being racist/fascist.
 Share this content via...
LibertyBell   10 #10 Posted February 13, 2009 Since when did patriotism become nationalism? And this coming from someone with the flag of a communist dictatorship in their avatar  Don't see the link myself.  The verse is a nationalist rant and what's more, the more you read it, the more it's revealed as total bullcrap. Some sort of UKIP drinking song, perhaps?
 Share this content via...
depoix   11 #11 Posted February 13, 2009 Very thought provoking and somewhat moving. Ignore the posters who will undoubtedly come along and try to trash their own heritage, or accuse you of being racist/fascist.if they do,then it will just show their ignorance, the lyrics were from a song that helped bind us together during the war against fascism a war that meant freedom and democracy for many millions of people  during that war we,the blacks, the brown, the whites all pulled together and worked as one people, that pulling together ensured we won, and became a lesson to be learned  anyone trying to twist it in regards to racism or fascism will be hard put to prove it
 Share this content via...
epiphany   10 #12 Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) So what is English heritage?  Can't quite put our fingers on it, can we?  That's because the idea of a nation is a wholly abstract and man-made construct. It is a pointless division of the inherent unity of the people of the earth.  You were born here as a consequence of circumstance. You deserve no more, or no less, than someone born in Botswana.  If anything, the British Empire, which still exists through anglo-US establishments, is a "heritage" to be ashamed of, unless you support benefitting from the imperialistic plunder of weaker nations, like parasites do from their hosts. Everything shall flow to the City of London and the Crown so England's subjects can prosper from the booty of the host colonies.  England is but a piece of land with people living on it, ruled by propertied and moneyed oligarchs. Governments and institutions may seek to draw boundaries and manufacture culture, but at the end of the day we ALL share this planet and the fruits of the earth.  Bye England... whoever you are.
