nightrider   13 #73 Posted February 15, 2009 which part of   "Nightrider - your reading stuff on the net, myself and a couple of the other posters are ACTUALLY buying and or selling houses AT THIS EXACT MOMENT IN TIME"   did you miss?  so your "evidence" is a few personal anecdotes? and you are extrapolating this to the entire housing market and then giving it more weight than people who have collated a far wider range of data than you are using? Sorry, but that is meaningless to do and tells us nothing useful. Its is very possible someone can sell some houses at a profit even when the housing market in general has decreasing prices (in fact this did happen in some areas the last housing crash in the 1990s). Cyclone   10 #74 Posted February 16, 2009 some people just dont want to believe. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/houseprices/4630776/House-sellers-put-up-asking-prices-in-February-but-experts-still-pessimistic.html  The telegraph for example, well known for ignoring reality.  House sellers have put up their asking prices in recent weeks, as estate agents and sellers indulge in false opimism(sic), a leading monthly survey says.  He added that the group expected to report further falls in asking prices in the coming months, and is forecasting a 10 per cent drop during the whole of 2009.
 Share this content via...
L00b   441 #75 Posted February 16, 2009 plank mate - prices ARE rising ................real world doesnt come much more real that what I`m psoting does it? go read my posts from last month  saxondale, are you going to give it a rest sometime? Fair enough you have an opinion, you're voicing it and have every right to. But your posts are just that - opinions. No more informed than anyone else's in here.  Noone said you had to drop your price on your house. But your decision won't stop others (the vast majority, judging by actual market data) to drop theirs to get a sale - especially if their own circumstances require it (e.g. impending repo).  Sorry to have to tell you, but the market direction doesn't depend on your decision(s), it depends on the collection of decisions made by all sellers and buyers at the national scale over a lengthy period best expressed in months rather than weeks.
