petemcewan 27 #8101 Posted December 22, 2020 Janie48. Thanks, I love that song-and I sing it at the top of my lungs. Have a safe Christmas and New Year. 2021 has got to be better than 2020.
 Share this content via...

Have a safe Christmas and New Year. 2021 has got to be better than 2020. Thanks for that nice Christmas message Pete, and the same to you. Fairytale of New York is one of my favourite Christmas songs. I once started a thread about it a few years ago. It's one of those songs that makes me feel happy which I'm sure it's meant to do, and yet, I acknowledge there's a sadness about it too. So carry on singing it from the top of your lungs, because it's Christmas and that's what I'm going to do.
 Share this content via...

wearysmith 141 #8108 Posted January 6, 2021 (edited) OK, fans of the 70s should check this out. It's by a guy called Geoff Appleby. Those old enough will remember him as working with an early Hull act, The Rats, which featured a pre-Bowie Mick Ronson on guitar. Appleby also worked with Ian Hunter in '75. This single, 'Hey Sadie', has ex-Spiders From Mars Trevor Bolder on bass and was produced by Mutt Lange (known across the globe for producing Def Leppard, the Boomtown Rats, City Boy, Shania Twain and AC/DC). It sounds incredibly like Roy Wood on his best day and I'm astonished it never charted. No video, alas, but worth sharing here. Enjoy. swarfendor437 14 #8109 Posted January 7, 2021 (edited) Nice one wearysmith - I can hear the Roy Wood sound. And now for something completely different. From my Ministry of Sounds I❤️80s triple CD collection (1979): and 25 years later live still as good in 2004!
