Foxhill garage - any good?

Recommended Posts

I have just took my car to Foxhill garage on Foxhill Road and found them to be quite helpful, my car needs to go in for a different propblem now but people have said there are rumours that the garage is bad news, anyone heard the same?

From what i,ve been told they are a bit pricey compared to other garages in the area, but having said that they are good at what they do apparently. So when it comes down to it, if you want to pay the money you get the service (just a little dearer than somewhere else).

well we thought it was ok.They did two mot's for me both were fine.

Then had a third done and it faild on a cv boot.So they fixed it cost £50,but within a week the boot came off.Took it back they fixed it once more(free of charge) .

But then two weeks later it happend again. So took it back once again.

This time they told me i would have to pay.

After an arugment i told them to get stuffed because they only wanted to charge me £70,

But it was there shoddy workmentship that caused this problem and they should have fixed it free of charge once more. They were having non of it so i went esle ware and payed £50 to get it sorted, and the boot has not come off since.

Before moving up there, Shane and Andy (i think) used to work down on the end of Claywheels Lane which was Bennetts garage - it's now the Carphone Warehouse.

I never had any problems at either garage.

Cowboys. Avoid them. Took a Fabia there to have a noisy wheel bearing looked at. They claimed it'd be straightforward, and around 50-60 quid, including parts.

Took them all day, then they rang me at 5pm telling me they needed to order some 'special' part from Skoda, which was the best part of £200. Foolishly, I let them go ahead, as the bearing really was shot and was making a horrible grinding noise. Gave me the car back the next day 'all fixed' and me about £250 lighter.

Two days later, the noise came back. Took it back again, and they were full of apologies, and said they'd sort it. Got the car back again, and a week later, the bearing's shot again. They claim there's nothing more they can do! It's wheel bearings, it's not rocket science! They don't know what they're doing.

Ended up taking the garage to the one next to the British Legion in Chapeltown and they sorted it out no bother.

I bought a car from them recently and they have been very good. I don’t live in Sheffield so I would not normally use this garage but I have been so impressed I will consider going back for other work, mainly because they are very genuine people and I don’t normally trust garages.

After a few weeks my car developed a noise from the wheel area, I took it to 3 different local garages ATS, KwikFit, and Halfords MOT garage and none of them could find the problem and advised that I went to the main dealer and paid £60 for them to just take a look at it.

Instead I took it back to Shane, he put it on the ramps found the problem in about 5 minutes, ordered the part that was delivered whilst I waited and he put it on and tested the car. Best of all he did not charge me a penny.

I really don’t trust car garages in general but I think Shane is a very honest man and as for the quality of their work it looks good to me, speedy and efficient and they managed to find what 3 other garages could not find within a matter of minutes and fix it incredibly fast whilst I waited. Personally although they are a good 40 miles away from where I live I will be going back as I am very impressed.

I've just took my car to Foxhill garage on Foxhill Road.

I've never used Foxhill garage so I cannot comment on them.

I always recommend Hi Q of Leppings Lane (unless the car is a FIAT)

because they are honest and they have never let us down.

For FIATS we only use Riverside FIAT of Loxley Road because they are an independent FIAT specialist.

What they don't know about FIATS isn't worth knowing.

I also recommend ASDA Parson Cross and I don't work there either.

Don't know anything about Foxhill garage but I do know Ian Kelly, Halifax road. We always use him, he is top class. Tel 0114 285 2480 or 07976265034. He will happily collect your car from home or work, do job and then bring it back:D
