It's called survival. Human beings have a habit of procreating, they also enjoy a social drink. Breweries have realised that in order to survive they would need to accomodate for families as they make up a sizeable proportion of the drinking culture.

Sadly this jumped up to bite them on the **** as they didn't account for a rebellion against atmospheres containing exhaled cigarette smoke. A temporary gain in additional custom and revenue was shortlived.

Dogs on the other hand neither smoke or drink (those that do share in preference to spending money) they simply occupy pub space that could otherwise be used by a member of the public, so in retrospect it makes economic sense for breweries to allow children into pubs rather than dogs.

From a punters point of view the dogs are perhaps more acceptable as their indifference to language and football teams allows for conversation containing 'naughty' words.

as I have a wife who is allergic to smoke I thought it was great when the Rising Sun at Nether Green opened up as a no-smoking pub pre the ban. The only trouble is, she is even more allergic to dog hairs and the place is always full of mutts!

I don't think there's any harm in dogs being allowed in pubs so long as they are well behaved

So Mr Benn, and Top B you think that all children should be left out in the cold, as for destroying the very fabric of society I thnik you will find that what destroyed this society is the lack of discipline to children by there parents and at school.

I used to take mine into pubs and clubs amazing how many people would come and talk to you. My dog was well behaved and hansome huge big german shepherd lovleeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well behaved dogs are a great thing for pubs because they are a talking point and create a nice atmosphere.

 

its good for the dog too....especially for socialising the young uns (getting them used to people and noise)

Definitely allow dogs in pubs. They need to be lively and places where you can just drop into if out walking. Shouldn't have to worry if you've got your dog with you.

Used to take my dalmation (now sadly deceased) into pubs,was a proper hit with the women

Think pubs are in that bad a way at the moment they would welcome you with open arms if you came in with a skunk
