sycamore66j   10 #38 Posted February 1, 2009 Many of the old snuff takers or eveen landlords in the pubs where there was free snuff available at the bar, would ask you if you wanted a 'bit up'. Nowadays you would get a rollicking if you asked a question like that.  The old snuffers were asking if you wanted a pinch of stuff to put up your nose.  Happy Days!  did anyone ever dip the end of a cig into snuff and then lit the said end, it cleared your tubes out first thing in the morning!! PopT   10 #39 Posted February 2, 2009 I remember the free snuff in the Royal Hotel in Owlerton.  It was a pair of Ram's horns set on a base with silver caps on the horns set on the bar.  They must have held several ounces of snuff.  The landlord frequently offered a pinch (bit up) to his customers  Happy Days! flyer   10 #42 Posted February 2, 2009 I seem to remember a picture of Popeye on the front.  What about the chocolate smoking sets at christmas, complete with pipe , cigar , cigs etc.  working for a candy maker(o-pee-chee)as machine builder i was helping to finish of a project that had started 10yrs before worked off and on for 5 yrs untill a perfect gum cigar ,pity that it was not consider right to teach kids to smoke it was all dumped,ouch it hurt a little but on with the next project lesson well learned:( Share this post Link to post Share on other sites Share this content via...
