At school behind the gym, 4 smokers n 1 fag..So it would go..2s up,the next person 3s up,the last would say,"save us the brown sauce" which was the tarred up filter.HAPPY DAYS.

You're right. It is "snout." It used to sound like "snart" when people said it.

 

Actually, according to the Urban dictionary, snart is

 

"when one farts and sneezes at the same time, regardless of which causes which"

Many of the old snuff takers or eveen landlords in the pubs where there was free snuff available at the bar, would ask you if you wanted a 'bit up'.

 

Nowadays you would get a rollicking if you asked a question like that.

 

The old snuffers were asking if you wanted a pinch of stuff to put up your nose.

I used to collect tab ends from the bus shelter at the end of motehall road for my brother...**** head!! and with my sister! I must have been mad!!!

 

I can also remember smoking tea leaves rolled up in toilet paper!!! What!!! ha ha...sad or what!

Yeah!!

 

Tab ends, dog ends, snouts, woodies, parkies...we used to put a needle through the end of a fag so it went further!! used to but them loose in a paper bag...remember that?

i remember 3 or 4 different types,the candy stick,with a red end,the paper wrapped chocolate ones,you could eat the paper too,the chewing gum ones,where you had to peel the paper off,and the chocolate ones with the jelly on the end,with sugar on the jelly,making it look like a real,lit ,fag.

yes,i too had forgotten them,they had red hundreds and thousands on the end of the cigars,my mum used to bring em home at christmas,she worked in the licqourice novelty dept. only trouble was,i hated the tatse of licqourice.
