IE7 + Vista Business Ultimate fully up to date

 

Doesn't happen with other browsers

 

Melthbell, dosxuk - I don't resufe to try other browsers. I actually also use Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera but it's just my personal preference to mainly use IE. I have no problem with the security of IE - my anti-virus / anti-malware / updates are all fully up-to-date and I don't visit dodgy websites. Works perfectly well for me. I agree that most browser attacks are aimed towards IE but this is mainly due to the ammount of users vs. other browsers and that fact that a lot of people have it in for MS. Anyway, this is going off at a tangent (how did I guess?). Back to the point of the thread:

Not sure how to fix the problem but something has set your default decoder to be LAME. I'd have a search around for setting the default audio codecs.

 

If you're on IE7 please try the IE8 beta, I think MS might actually have a browser that renders stuff according to spec

grab AC3 codec from within there you can set system to use AC3

Have you tried the K-lite megacodec pack.

 

There could be a problem with the codec you're using. It may be worth deleting it and then installing the K-lite pack.

 

I know you don't want to hear it and I'm not wanting to start a war (Rich) but people usually suggest the other browsers because IE really is that poor.

 

Turns out it was the K-lite mega codec pack that was causing the problem!

 

After uninstalling it, the problem is solved!!!

 

I installed it a month or so ago for a codec for Sony .MTS files.

Try this, it worked like a charm:

 

If you want to disable the MP3-Lame popup when visiting web pages that have embedded mp3s --> Start --> All Programs --> "K-Lite Codec Pack" --> "Configuration" -->"Codec Tweak Tool". Scroll down the list (it's a long one) until you find "Codec Management (K-Lite Codec Pack)". Under this section there will be an "enable" and "disable" section. The program doesn't tell you what is enabled or disabled, but the options move from enabled to disabled when you finish your selection. Locate MP3 (Lame) under the "DISABLE" section and check it. Click Next and then Finish. Your popup problem will be gone.

The lame codec is a cracker. I use it myself and it works perfectly.

I would remove and reinstall but stop using crappy microsoft browsers.

I'm now using Google Chrome. Easy, fast and it doesn't take up computing power.

It also auto translates foreign pages to English.

I just want to use IE. Plain and simple.

I've been using Chrome browser for about the past year now and It's brilliant!

 

Internet Explorer is a poor as ever and does not compare against Chrome

 

Chrome is ultra-quick and by far the best of the browsers.
