Apparently this sound only teenagers can hear, according to NPR's all things considered.

I can hear it but just barely (If the room is quiet)

Anyone know what freq this tone is?

That's quite annoying to be fair. But i'm not a teenager, no fair!

I must have young ears - I get a high pitched tone and an underlying lower-pitched hum (I can only hear the hum if I crank the volume way up though).

Wouldn't one of those tones that make people vomit and lose control of their bowels be more effective though?

I hear that loud and clear. Who can hear the tone linked to at the end of this article? I can - just. Sounds like a very high-pitched pulse.

I can hear the first one really clearly (made me wince) and the one Hecate's linked to just about - it wouldn't be enough to annoy me.

Teenagers. Ha. I wish.

Yes, I can hear them both (the one in the OP and Hecate's) - the first one is ear piercing, I had to turn it off.
