steev   10 #32 Posted April 11, 2005 The "Sausage Street" thing started in World War 1, when large parts of France were in British occupancy. To make things easier on the squaddies, French names were substituted with English on maps, so people could find their way round. Names like Sausage Street, Mash Street & Dammit Street (really) suggested a name-finder short either of time or of patience. Sam Miguel   10 #33 Posted April 11, 2005 Over the weekend, instead of spending most of my time on SF, I did some extensive investigation in the hope of clearing this strange mystery up.  I got nowhere.  All I want to know is: where is Sausage Steet? Longcol   598 #34 Posted April 11, 2005 I think we can safely say that there is no such place in this country.  Still not discounting some joke / punchline but the "clues" from SM are a bit too obscure / cryptic for my liking. Sam Miguel   10 #35 Posted April 11, 2005 Oh, but there is such a street!  Think 'sideways' you do when solving this clue.  Hmmm.
 Share this content via...
LoopyLou   10 #36 Posted April 11, 2005 IS = sausage street  "I" being the street and "S" the sausage  I know this is wrong but I thought at least by having a guess it might start the ball rolling for some of you cleverer ones.
